Welcome to the Buckeye Band Boosters website.
The Buckeye Band Boosters organization is made up of the parents/guardians of the members of the Edgewood High School Band. Every parent/guardian of a band student is a member whether or not they have ever attended a meeting. There are no dues or membership fees but plenty of volunteer activities and opportunities to meet many new people.
The purpose of the Band Boosters is to support the band directors in providing the students with the wonderful musical opportunities, chances to do a little traveling and make new friends. Basically, Mrs. Sommers and Mr. Shamp decide what they want the band to do, or participate in, and we do our best to make it happen.
We provide the students with several activities throughout the year. We provide activities, games and snacks at Band Camp. We pay for the clinicians that assist the directors at camp. We also pay the room and board fees for the chaperones that have graciously given up a week of hard earned vacation time to spend with the students. Band camp is a tough week for everyone and the parents who monitor, supervise, and otherwise get very little rest should be commended.
We also host the Military Ball for the band students. This is a formal dinner and dance that is absolutely free to any member of the ESHS band, however all band fees must be paid in full prior to the event should a student wish to attend. A fee is charged for any guests not in band the students may wish to bring. Band awards, letters and plaques are also given on this night.
In order to accomplish this, and more, we have multiple fundraisers throughout the year. We always need parents to help with these. If you have an idea for a fundraiser, please bring as much information about it as you can to a meeting. You may be asked to lead the fundraiser, but don’t let that scare you off; you’ll have plenty of help.
Our meetings are held in the band room at Edgewood Senior High School at 6:30 on the first Monday of the month. This will be changed only if the first Monday happens to be a holiday, which we will know and announce ahead of time, or if school happens to be cancelled. If school is cancelled on a meeting day, our aim is to meet at the same time the following Monday.
